Approach
I’m Emily Sexton, an Executive Coach with over 20 years in Communications and Leadership Development. My work is about helping people lead and communicate with clarity: bringing focus to complex situations, building self-awareness, and using their insights as a map to deliver meaningful results for their organisation and for themselves.
This often involves looking ‘inside’ at their values, what’s driving them, and how they’re likely to show up day-to-day and under pressure (using Hogan personality assessments); looking ‘outside’ for a real-time view on how their leadership is experienced by others (using 360 feedback); exploring how they can leverage their strengths, and determining where they may need to seek support or focus their development to achieve their goals.
Where appropriate and developmental, I offer practical tools to help clients strengthen how they engage and mobilise their teams (e.g., presentation skills, structuring clear messages, and navigating difficult conversations) - at the individual and team level.
Background
My career began in London PR agencies, Ketchum and Freuds, where I worked with well-known brands (including Morocco Tourism Board, Diageo, Philips, Pernod Ricard, and Guinness), pitching to journalists, building client relationships, and delivering international events. I later joined InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), where I spent 10 years based in London and Singapore, helping hospitality leaders to launch new brands, embed corporate strategy, and strengthen brand advocacy amongst hotel owners around the world.
While living in Singapore, I completed a multi-year coach training programme that led to accreditation with the International Coaching Federation (ICF), and set up a charitable partnership with the International Justice Mission (IJM), to help raise funds for their work tackling online exploitation of children in the Philippines.
After returning to London in 2021, I established Emily Sexton Coaching to support hospitality leaders through coaching, leadership assessment and development.
